Training at Head Office West Yorkshire
Thank you so much for choosing Dermace for you training.
With most Dermace courses, you will receive a pre-study manual - it may even be in attached to this email. Please take time to read through the content, but don’t worry if there are aspects you don’t understand - everything is covered on the course.
Also included in your welcome pack is a short test that all students complete on day one of the Diploma training. Please do NOT feel worried or pressured by this test. The results of the test allow us to measure how much information you have absorbed so we can tailor the course to your needs.
If you are attending a full Diploma Course in Semi Permanent Makeup, you will need to build a portfolio of 4 treatments of each type (4 x liners, 4 x lips, 4 x brows). When you return for your assessment, you will need to carry out one more example of each procedure. Wherever possible you must bring your own model for assessment. If you have any difficulty with this, please contact us well in advance.
Brow Only and Microblading courses require a portfolio of 6 and 10 treatments respectively.
Trainees are required to arrange insurance BEFORE the course begins. Dermace recommend Holistic Insurance Services for this cover, and they are also able to offer you a policy from your first day of training - right through portfolio and certified status.
Evidence of cover should be taken with you to the course as the trainer will ask to see it. We have extensive knowledge and experience of the insurers in our industry, and have found Holistic Insurance to be the most beneficial and comprehensive for our trainees. You are more than welcome to shop around and gain cover from another insurer, but evidence must be provided to ensure it will cover you sufficiently.
We recommend bringing along your own camera or smartphone so we can take some shots of you working in practical and study sessions. These images can be a great way to introduce your skills to your client base and give them confidence that you’ve had great training. Please ask to speak to Rich at head office if you need more pics, or a certain style of shot for your social media or website.
Remember - we are able to create a amazing website for you to kick-start your business. Please let us know if you’d like to chat about a site on training.
What should you wear?
You need to wear clothing suitable for a clinical environment. Dermace staff use scrubs to train in, and we'd be happy to offer you some too - just let us know in advance.
If you want to wear your own clothes, or you already have scrubs/tunic, then please remember: No jeans or trainers, hair should be tied up, and skirts/dresses will prove problematic for the saddle stools you'll be working on. Dress professionally, you'll be dealing with models and working close to people in a clinical environment.
Where should you stay?
You have a number of options here, click the names to get to their sites. The three closest hotels (in order of distance) are:
The Waterfront lodge is the cheapest, and is within walking distance to the Academy. It has a carpark (pay and display) and a restaurant, and Brighouse has a selection of cafes and restaurants in walking distance.
Casa Brighouse is slightly more expensive, has a carpark (free), but is a short taxi ride to the Academy. We'd recommend parking at the hotel and getting a taxi into Brighouse - it would be cheaper than paying for parking all day.
Holiday Inn is close to the motorway, and can be quite cheap if you time your booking right. As will all big chains, you know what to expect. Slightly less personal than the other two, but nice and modern and has a gym too.
How should you get here?
Brighouse is just off the M62, Junction 25. We also have a train station in the town centre with trains coming and going from Leeds and Manchester - as well as a direct train to Kings Cross several times a day. For international students, we have the LBA (Leeds Bradford Airport) just a 40 minute cab ride away.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
If you have any queries in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
